Colombia is also pointing to the positive trend of being friendly to animals, more and more people have pets and many businesses open their doors even with welcome signs.
The new Law 1774 of 2016 reaffirms the rules regarding animal protection against human suffering and pain, with prison terms and fines. Animals are considered by law to be "sentient beings, not things."
Bogotá has parks where you can go with your dog, in Bogotá you can travel with your dog on public transport, if it is small breed and in carrier and paying passage, also in Barranquilla, Cali and Medellín, you must carry the vaccination card and microchip number, if requested.
The requirements to bring your dog to Colombia are as follows: present the Sanitary Certificate, issued 10 days before entering the country, where the veterinarian certifies that the animal has passed a review and is free of infectious, contagious and parasitic diseases.
Vaccination certificate, all the details of the animal and its vaccination up to date. The ICA (Colombian agricultural institute), verifies the documentation.
They recommend, however, contact the official service, consulate, or embassy of the country.
